Each Centre features a fully equipped IT lab, a vital resource given many students’ limited prior exposure to technology. As IT head Ms Rathnayake highlights, “Many of my students had never touched a computer mouse. Not because they can’t learn, but because they didn’t get the chance.”

Beyond academics, Tea Leaf Trust prioritizes mental health and emotional development, addressing the deep-rooted sense of hopelessness in these communities. Their unique ‘emotional health and success and ethics’ curriculum, empowers especially young women to build confidence, speak up, and become change-makers in their families and communities.

Remarkably, all staff members are graduates of the program, ensuring deep empathy and cultural understanding. With 72% of students and 80% of staff being women, the initiative is a powerful example of grassroots female empowerment and leadership.

This inspiring model is led by young people, for young people, creating a self-sustaining cycle of opportunity and hope from within the community.

Ceylon Tea Market

This year we commence a significant partnership with the Tea Leaf Trust, a UK-based charity and Sri Lankan NGO dedicated to advancing the welfare and opportunities of children and young people from underprivileged tea estate communities in Sri Lanka. The organization offers free, year-long English and vocational training to students aged 18–26, equipping them with essential skills for employment and the digital world.
